I am beyond thrilled to announce that MELTWATER: A Game of Tactical Starvation will be published this summer by Hollandspiele.
Meltwater is a two-player board game about brinkmanship, xenophobia, and the madness born of nationalism over humanity. It’s also a pretty good way to kill an hour (and thousands of civilians).
“Restraint? Why are you so concerned with saving their lives? The whole idea is to kill the bastards. At the end of the war, if there are two Americans and one Russian left alive, we win.”
~Gen. Thomas Power, U.S. Strategic Air Command 1957-196419XX: The unthinkable finally happens. The world is scoured clean in nuclear fire. The oceans are poisoned for generations to come. One last patch of habitable land remains: Antarctica. The remnants of humanity huddle together in a fragile patchwork of research stations and refugee ships. But even here, the Cold War survives. And our civilization may not.
Despite the heady theme, Meltwater is designed to be accessible to players with minimal experience with designer board games.
Meltwater has been my passion project for the last two years, and I’m so thrilled to be able to bring it to everyone. I’ll be posting more as board, card, and rulebook art become finalized, and as preorders become available. But for now, please share with your interested friends and followers!
(And following Hollandspiele on Facebook probably couldn’t hurt! They have a lot of other really fascinating titles. I recommend Cole Werhle’s An Infamous Traffic if you want a sober and fascinating take on the British colonial atrocity that was the Opium Wars.)
holy shit this looks so cool! congrats!
